Goodwood - Aurora Media

Hiring Post provides live ingest and editing facilities for Aurora Media’s team at The Goodwood Revival.

Hiring Post has provided Aurora Media with the latest live ingest and editing facilities for use by Aurora’s on-site team at the Goodwood Revival 2019. The company supplied a Quadrus Ingest Machine multi-channel live ingest system for four live channels of HD-SDI video with audio to the in-house editing format of ProRes 422. The media was immediately available for editing, housed on an Avid® NEXIS™ media server and a QNAP® server for full back-up.

Aurora Media is the production partner for all the Goodwood Estate’s motorsports events. The Goodwood Revival, which took place earlier this month, is distributed to broadcasters around the globe; Aurora’s production includes highlights, live coverage on the event big screens, live coverage for broadcast and streaming, post-produced factual programming. With multiple cameras used, plus a large on-site team, the assistance provided by Hiring Post was essential.

Hiring Post provided full pre-build of the systems, delivery and on-site installation, together with technical staff to manage the media over the whole event. In addition, Hiring Post delivered an ingest, logging and transcoding station for the camera field rushes, a viewing station and various Apple Mac-based editing systems running the latest Adobe® Premiere® Pro software. These were also connected to the Avid NEXIS shared storage system. After the media was edited into a programme, it was run through the Telestream Vidchecker QC system, before being sent to the UK broadcaster.

Lee Flay, Aurora Media’s technical director, commented, “Firstly, can I thank everyone involved in the recent Goodwood Revival project with Aurora Media. A really top-class service with a ‘can-do’ approach was exactly what we were after and Hiring Post delivered that in spades.”
